Zur Aufnahme in die Kirchenagende empfehlen wir: 1. Formulare:
Lochners
„Lit. Formulare“, aber verkürzt; 2. Fürbitte für Kranke, die derſelben be⸗
gehren; 3. Gebete: a. ein weiteres allgemeines ſonntägliches Kirchengebet
(ſiehe W. Löhes Agende v. J. 1844, S. 24—26); b. ein Gebet am Danktag
(„Magazin“ 31, 128; 32, 94. 127); c. ein Gebet am Miſſionsfeſt (Walther,
„Goldkörner“, S. 72 oder beſſer: „Bayeriſcher Agendenkern“, S. 214. 215). —

..."over us": indeed, over all of us. The second prayer is divided
into two parts; the second part then beginning on p. 198 with "O
Thou risen Prince of Life." P. 198, line 12 from top, instead of
"little worms," better: "sinners." P. 199, the last sentence: "Then
let us . . . glory" is omitted. P. 199, line 2 from bottom, instead
of "in": "on our deathbed." P. 200, line 11 from bottom, instead of
the archaic "wasmaßen": "wie" ["as"]. Pentecost. P. 204, line 2 from
top, instead of "we poor little children": "we, Thy poor children."
P. 205, after "davonbringen" ["carry off/escape with"], no period,
but a comma. P. 206, line 13 from top, instead of "be children"
[subjunctive]: "are children" [indicative]. Trinity. P. 207, line 12
from bottom, instead of "do separate ourselves": "and separate
ourselves, with our," etc. Michaelmas. P. 215, line 15 from bottom,
instead of "be thankful" [infinitive]: "be thankful" [subjunctive].
P. 216, lines 3 and 4 from top, should read: "graciously and
mightily curb his wickedness." P. 217, line 8 from top, instead of
"Anfall" ["attack/seizure"]: "Anlauf" ["onset"]. Reformation
Festival. P. 219, lines 5 and 6 from bottom, "so many —— years ago"
is to be dropped. P. 220, line 2 from bottom, "daher" ["therefore"],
instead of the archaic "dahero." P. 221, lines 8 and 9 from top, it
should read: "hence the protracted scarcity," etc. P. 222, line 10
from top, "hinfort" ["henceforth"], instead of the archaic
"hinfüro." Harvest Festival. P. 222, line 4 from bottom, "zumeist"
["mostly"], instead of the archaic "meistlich." P. 223, line 1 from
bottom, is to be set: "this region [not 'city'] and our whole land."
Special Prayers of the Church. P. 228, line 3 from top, "again" is
to be struck. P. 229, line 7 from top, instead of "unfortunately":
"to our harm." P. 232, line 4 from top, the words "If it should
indeed go well with the sick for you" are to be struck.
For inclusion in the church Agenda, we recommend: 1. Forms: a. for
the laying of a church's cornerstone, b. for the dedication of a
church, c. for the dedication of a new schoolhouse, d. for the
dedication of a new cemetery, e. for the consecration of a bell,
f. for the consecration of an organ, g. for the installation of a
schoolteacher, h. for the installation of newly elected elders, i.
for funerals (in the home — in the church — at the graveside), all
of them, namely, following Fr. Lochner's "Liturgical Forms," but
shortened; 2. Intercession for the sick who request it; 3. Prayers:
a. a further general Sunday Prayer of the Church (see W. Löhe's
Agenda of 1844, pp. 24–26); b. a prayer for Thanksgiving Day
("Magazin" 31, 128; 32, 94, 127); c. a prayer for the Mission
Festival (Walther, "Goldkörner" [as printed; likely "Goldkörner"],
p. 72, or better: "Bayerischer Agendenkern" [Bavarian Core Agenda],
pp. 214–215). —
On the other hand, we do not consider forms for silver and golden
wedding anniversaries, the announcement of excommunication and
self-exclusion, the readmission of an excommunicated person, etc., to
be necessary, but wish instead, should the occasion arise, to refer
people to Lochner's "Liturgical Forms." Only the form found there —
somewhat abridged — for a read funeral service [*Leseleiche*], for
use when the pastor is absent or unable to attend (p. 109 ff.), we
still considered desirable to include.
— We consider it inadmissible to append a second or even a third
series of pericopes to the Agenda. But the traditional one shall
remain. The Passion History should be divided into 7 lessons rather
than 5. (1. "And when they had sung a hymn," etc., p. 137; 2. "But
the crowd," etc., p. 140; 3. "And the whole multitude," etc., p. 143;
4. "But Pilate called out," etc., p. 146; 5. "Then the soldiers
took," etc., p. 149; 6. "And when the sixth hour came," etc., p. 152;
7. "Afterward, in the evening," etc., p. 153.)
— Regarding the "Liturgical Appendix," we do believe that the
existing one should remain, only on p. 248 it should read: "to strong
faith toward Thee" (instead of "toward you" [singular familiar form]);
but because the manner of chanting the antiphons given there is
little used anymore, and is not exemplary either, the appendix should
be enlarged by including the two other chant settings for the Lord's
Prayer and the Words of Institution at Holy Communion found in
F. Lochner's "Hauptgottesdienst" [Chief Service] (pp. 241–246 and
250, 255), as well as the "Salutation" (pp. 132–133) and the "Amen"...
