Allgemeinere Beſchlüſſe.

A. Gehälter betreffend.

Komitee No. 12 hatte Eingaben und Bitten der Aufſichtsbehörden
unſerer Lehranſtalten zur Regulierung der Profeſſorengehälter zu be⸗
gutachten und unterbreitete der Ehrw. Synode folgenden Bericht, der
unverändert angenommen wurde.

„Die Gehälter der Profeſſoren unſerer Lehranſtalten ſind vor
zwölf Jahren hier in St. Louis zum letztenmal revidiert worden. Bei
der damaligen Reviſion nahm man in einzelnen Fällen Rückſicht auf
beſondere Umſtände, die eine Erhöhung, reſp. eine Reduzierung des
Gehaltes als gerecht erſcheinen ließen. Dieſe Umſtände haben ſich im
Laufe der Jahre zum Teil verändert. Darum erſchien es dem Komitee
gerecht, zunächſt in dieſer Beziehung eine Neuregulierung vorzunehmen.
Das iſt von dem Komitee geſchehen, indem der Gehalt einiger Profeſſo⸗
ren erniedrigt und der anderer erhöht worden iſt.

„Namentlich zeigte es ſich, daß der Gehalt der Profeſſoren und
Direktoren der Voranſtalten, welche die Synode im Laufe der letzten
zehn Jahre zu vollſtändigen Lehranſtalten erhoben hat, nicht entſprechend
erhöht worden iſt. Ihr Komitee hat darum bei der Reviſion der Ge⸗
haltsliſten dieſen Unterſchied aufgegeben.

„Endlich konnte ſich Ihr Komitee der Tatſache nicht verſchließen,
daß im letzten Jahrzehnt eine beſtändige Preiserhöhung aller notwen⸗
digen Lebensbedürfniſſe eingetreten iſt, und daß gerechtermaßen auch
eine allgemeine Erhöhung der Gehälter der Profeſſoren ſtattfinden ſollte.
Wir haben darum nach entſprechender Ausgleichung der Gehälter dieſe
um zehn Prozent erhöht und empfehlen der Ehrw. Synode, ſolches gut⸗
zuheißen und damit den Gemeinden der Synode ein gutes Vor⸗
bild für die Gehaltserhöhung ihrer Paſtoren und
Lehrer zu geben.“

Die Gehaltsliſte würde ſich nach ſolcher Ausgleichung und Er⸗
höhung folgendermaßen ſtellen:

More General Resolutions.

A. Concerning Salaries.

Committee No. 12 was to give its opinion on the memorials and
requests of the boards of oversight of our schools regarding the
regulation of professors' salaries, and submitted to the Reverend
Synod the following report, which was adopted unchanged.

"The salaries of the professors at our schools were last revised
here in St. Louis twelve years ago. In that revision, individual
cases took account of special circumstances that made an increase, or
respectively a reduction, of the salary appear just. These
circumstances have in part changed over the years. The committee
therefore considered it just to first undertake a new regulation in
this regard. This the committee has done, by lowering the salary of
some professors and raising that of others.

"In particular, it became apparent that the salary of the professors
and directors of the preparatory institutions that the synod has, over
the last ten years, raised to full schools, had not been increased
correspondingly. Your committee has therefore done away with this
distinction in revising the salary lists.

"Finally, your committee could not close its eyes to the fact that
the past decade has seen a steady rise in the price of all necessary
means of living, and that a general increase in the professors'
salaries should in fairness also take place. We have therefore, after
suitably equalizing the salaries, raised them by ten percent, and we
recommend that the Reverend Synod approve this, and thereby give the
congregations of the synod a good example for raising the salaries of
their pastors and teachers."

After such equalization and increase, the salary list would stand as
follows:
