Jahre feiern, der Luther Amerikas, unſer hochgeehrter Lehrer, D. C. F.
W. Walther.

Was kann
geſchehen, daß vierteljährlich $1000.00 hinübergeſandt werden können,
damit unſere dortigen Brüder nicht immer wieder in große Verlegenheit
geraten? Eine Ehrw. Synode möge dieſe Frage ernſtlich erwägen.

celebrate this year — the Luther of America, our highly honored teacher, Dr. C. F. W. Walther. Should we not then gladly help the light of the pure Gospel to shine there in some places, from where it came to us in a twofold connection? From Germany, moreover, modern unbelieving theology now draws its error and its false teachings; how important that precisely there, at the seat of the lie, we should have witnesses to the truth! And our brothers there bear witness joyfully and fearlessly, and their trumpet gives a clear, bright tone. Their writings prove this, especially their paper, "Die Ev.-Luth. Freikirche" [The Ev. Lutheran Free Church], which we would urgently recommend, both for the excellence of its content and also because subscribing to it supports the mission there.

The Saxon Free Church needs $4000.00 in support annually from our Synod. But the commission can only pay out when there is something in this treasury, and the treasury is often entirely empty. What can be done so that $1000.00 can be sent over quarterly, so that our brothers there are not repeatedly thrown into great difficulty? May an Honorable Synod give this question serious consideration.

b. The Danish Free Church.

The Danish Free Church has only two pastors, President J. M. Michael and Pastor J. N. H. Rosenwinkel. They are missionaries in the fullest sense of the word, proclaiming the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Danish language in many places. For their livelihood they are almost entirely dependent on our Synod. President Michael writes: "We pastors have proposed to our congregations that they join the Saxon Free Church. We 'Danes' are too small a number of people to have a whole synodical apparatus. Moreover, great spiritual blessing will flow to us from our fellow believers in Germany if we form one synod together with them. It will also be simpler to direct the money for Europe to just one address."

Pastor Rosenwinkel has established a parish school in the city of Copenhagen. The commission has encouraged him in this, in the conviction that the whole Synod will rejoice over it and will also gladly grant the small support for it, in order to testify everywhere, even into the very heart of Denmark: "We are friends of the Christian parish school and consider it the best means of giving children a Christian upbringing and also of building our Savior's kingdom."

The Danish Free Church needs $1656.00 in support annually, to which is added $40.00 annually to pay the interest on the money that had to be borrowed to set up the school. —

Your commission has, in this triennium, had its attention drawn to other countries where mission work by our Synod could and should also be undertaken — for example, in Hawaii, on the
