Up to now our "title" has been unchallenged, except by the assertions of the Milwaukee committee and its attorney. The government of the State of Missouri has recognized us as a corporation, and we are regarded as a lawful body. That even the most secure legal right to exist can be challenged, and that accordingly our incorporation too could be called into question before a court, admits of no doubt — just as almost the most innocent person can be brought up on charges over almost anything. Whether such a quo warranto proceeding against us would result in the forfeiture of our charter is an entirely different question. The attorneys we have consulted consider it highly improbable. But so long as no such annulment of our charter has taken place, we stand as a de facto legitimately incorporated company, and up to now we have been regarded as legitimate in all the states where we have bought and sold as an incorporated company. —

Committee No. 2, to which these reports were submitted for examination, judged as follows:

"Your Committee, which had to review the reports of the Milwaukee and St. Louis committees on incorporation, takes the liberty of informing the Reverend Synod that it has examined the matter closely, in that it summoned representatives of both committees before it and gave them the opportunity to present and justify the view each represented. After careful consideration of the material thus brought before Your Committee, Your Committee reached the decision to recommend to the Reverend Synod that it drop the question of the validity of the incorporation, since
