11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 129

tilgt werde, ehe mit ferneren Neubauten begonnen wird;

müſſen, ehe Neubauten in Angriff genommen werden;

genau zu berichten;

11th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1905. 129

"The agent's income cannot be checked, so far as this commission is concerned. Regarding the report of the General Treasurer, we take the liberty of drawing attention to the state of the building fund. The treasurer's submission of February 1, 1905, which deals with this fund in detail, deserves the thorough consideration of the Synod, and in agreement with it we recommend to an Honorable Synod, after long and mature deliberation:

"1. that the present debt in the building fund of $83,777.26 be paid off before any further new buildings are begun;

"2. that the full amount of the funds approved by the Synod be subscribed, and not less than two-thirds of it paid in, before new buildings are undertaken;

"3. that the various district treasurers be called on to report to the General Treasurer, often and precisely, on the state of subscriptions and payments for the building fund in their respective districts;

"4. that the various supervisory boards be instructed to inform the General Treasurer:

"a. when a new building is to be undertaken,
"b. the contract sum for such a new building, and
"c. the payment deadlines.

"The congregation in Denver should, in our judgment, be instructed to give the Synod a note for the interest-free loan of $2250.00, with the stipulation that it must also be paid off as soon as possible, or that at least occasional installment payments be made.

"The congregation in Pueblo, too, should be urged to make occasional installment payments on its note of $2632.25.
Respectfully, the Auditing Committee: J. G. Landenberger, Louis H. Gilster, William Schlake. St. Louis, May 19, 1905."
(Report of the Auditing Committee.)

"At every meeting of the Delegate Synod the need arises to resolve on new buildings for this or that educational institution. Our Synod is quite capable of raising the money needed for these buildings within a fixed time, for example within a year. But how does it usually go? The subscribing and paying-in of the funds happens so irregularly, sluggishly, and sparingly that often, by the time of the next meeting, that is after three years, the necessary sum is still not on hand. How often in the
