166 Proceedings of the 26th General or
Mr. Pastor Gößwein retains his present standing with respect to the Synod, and proposes that the Synod resolve to this effect."
Note: This foregoing committee report, signed by "F. Schröder, G. F. Betz, A. Müller, C. F. Möhring, R. Bunke, Fr. Streckfuß, F. Zucker," met with no objection on any of the points named (2 through 7).
Resolved, that all the points of the foregoing committee report (2 through 7), and thus the entire committee report itself, be adopted.
Various Resolutions.
1. Resolved, that the petitions (reports, motions, etc.) for the Delegate Synod be sent, printed, to all electoral districts in two copies each, four weeks before the Synod convenes.
2. Resolved, that a regulation be drawn up for our institutions of higher learning, and that the Professors' Conference be charged with preparing it, under instruction to submit the draft it prepares to the next Delegate Synod.
3. Resolved, that by rising from their seats, the Synod extend its warmest congratulations to Mr. D. F. Pieper on his fifty-third birthday.
4. "Resolved, that the Treasurer of the General Synod be instructed to convey to our faithful, long-serving Secretary, for his selfless service of many years, an honorarium of $300.00. — P. Brand."
Note: This fourth resolution was adopted in the Secretary's absence, on the basis of a petition from the lay delegates, and was afterward submitted for entry into the minutes. A few days earlier, the Synod had already tendered the Secretary its thanks by rising from its seats. The delegates, however, felt that thanks in words alone should not be the end of the matter, and accordingly moved the Synod to the above resolution.
Expressions of Thanks.
1. Resolved, that the congregations of Detroit, Mich., be given the Synod's heartfelt thanks for the hospitality shown, which the members of the Synod were privileged to enjoy in such generous measure.
