11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 69

ſtützung in reichlicher Weiſe bedarf.

11th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1905. 69

which, given the great shortage of workers in our own country, is hardly
surprising.

"But may the Reverend Synod, amid its many great labors, not overlook
the mission in distant Australia and New Zealand! The children of this
world can serve as an example to us here. To American businessmen
that part of the world is not too far away to bring their wares to market
there. From us something more precious is sought — should the market
be too far or too small for us? We close with a word of the late D. A.
Gräbner: 'Of the Australian Lutheran Zion, too, the word of the Psalm
may and should hold true: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: it shall go
well with those who love you." May God preserve them and us in the
truth, and through our service bless also our dear brethren in Australia
and New Zealand!'" (Report of the Committee for Home Missions.)

1. Resolved, that all members of our congregations be urgently
requested to support the fund for home missions more diligently with
their gifts, so that the traveling preachers' already meager salaries can be
paid on time.

2. Resolved, that the congregations be cordially asked to designate
the greater part of the gifts from their mission festivals to the fund for
home missions.

3. Resolved, that those Districts which, after providing for the
traveling preachers in their own territory, are able to turn over a surplus
to the General Home Mission fund be urgently requested, after the
quarterly payment of the traveling preachers' salaries in their own
District, to forward without delay any surplus remaining in their
treasury to the fund for General Home Missions.

4. Resolved, that our congregations be cordially asked to continue
supporting the mission in Berlin, Germany, with financial means — and
indeed more vigorously than before.

5. Resolved, that the congregations be reminded not to forget that
the Saxon Free Church, too, is in ample need of support. This is all the
more so since our Synod has promised the Saxon Free Church not only
to supply a pastor for the mission in Hamburg, Germany, but also to raise
his annual salary. A subsidy of $500.00 to $600.00 a year for the
continuation of the Hamburg city mission is absolutely necessary.

6. Resolved, that the Home Mission Committee establish a special
fund, as for Berlin so also for Hamburg, for the purpose
