104 Proceedings of the 26th General or

"To the faithful God and Savior, who has so far been so gracious to our mission among the poor natives of this land, this work is further commended. May He be gracious to us and establish the work of our hands for us; yes, may He establish the work of our hands, to the praise and glory of His holy name, for Christ's sake. Amen." (Report of the Commission for the Indian Mission.)

1. Resolved, that the erection of a building at Zoar, in which the Indian children can live and have their housekeeping managed, as well as the construction of a road to the nearest town road, be placed in the hands of the commission, with instructions to carry it out to the best of its judgment.

2. Resolved, that — since the funds available to the commission for a flourishing continuation of the mission work among the Indians are only scanty — our congregations be encouraged to take part in this mission more actively and more generally.

3. Resolved, that the General President appoint a committee to audit the commission's account books on site, always before the opening of the Delegate Synod.

Negro Mission.

"The Commission for the Negro Mission takes the liberty, in accordance with a longstanding provision of the Reverend Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, of submitting a brief report on the work of the Negro Mission and of asking for renewed love and support for this blessed work.

"We thank God for His gifts, which we have received from Him in our Negro Mission as well. God has shown much goodness to our Negro Mission; He has let it experience various sorrows, but even more joy.

"It is true that the task of our workers in the Negro Mission is an exceedingly great and difficult one, and outwardly the success is often very slight. But delight and love for the cause make all toil and labor light. We know and believe that the Negro Mission is a mission commanded by God and therefore pleasing to God, and for that very reason we intend, trusting in God's promise and in His name, to continue confidently the work we began in God's name 28 years ago.
