Werk in bisheriger Weiſe weiterzuführen.

4256 Deutſche; in drei Jahren alſo 156,184 Einwanderer, darunter
15,003 Deutſche.

82 Proceedings of the 26th General or
...serious word given them for the road, that they should hold fast to
the church and to God's Word in the new land as well.
"As can be seen from the reports appearing yearly in the
*Lutheraner*, German immigration has risen somewhat in recent years
compared with the previous period, so that our agent has plenty of
work, and there is reason enough to continue the work as before. It
should also be considered that among those coming from Russia and
Austria there are many who speak German, and with whom the agent
can therefore also work. — In the past few years the committee has had
advice for Slovak and Polish immigrants translated and printed, which
is distributed by the agent.
"Every quarter the committee has met with the agent to hear a
report on his work, to attend to the necessary business of the mission,
and to deliberate on it generally. Individual members of the committee
have also observed the agent's work at the landing of ships.
"In 1902, a total of 47,605 landed in Baltimore, including 5,057
Germans; in 1903 it was 69,273, among them 5,690 Germans; last year
39,306 landed, including 4,256 Germans; so in three years, 156,184
immigrants, including 15,003 Germans.
"In letters, the agent received: in 1902, 325, and wrote 329; in
1903, received 525, wrote 512; in 1904, received 450, wrote 375.
The turnover of money amounted to, in 1902, $5,641.16; in 1903,
$7,604.97; in 1904, $10,093.65; in all three years, $23,339.78.
"In collections for this mission there came in, in 1902, $355.91; in
1903, $263.52; in 1904, $230.33; in all, $849.76.
