zugekommen. Wie erſichtlich, hat der Miſſionar ſeine Arbeitsfelder
in den Staaten Maine, Maſſachuſetts, New York, Pennſylvania,
Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconſin und Delaware. Seelen⸗
zahl: 864. Sämmtliche Gemeinden und Predigtplätze ſind im
Laufe der letzten drei Jahre in regelmäßiger Reihenfolge fortlaufend
bedient worden.
Aſſiniboia, Medicine Hat und Alberta, Can., theils in Manitoba,

90 Proceedings of the 26th General or
...energy split between two missions, and so the committee, with the
consent of the Reverend General *Präses* [president], resolved to call
Missionary Sillak entirely into the service of the Estonian and Latvian
mission. He accepted this call, and since then two workers have
labored in the service of this mission.
"As for the missionaries' activity in their respective territories, the
committee appends the reports called for from its missionaries.*) From
these it appears:
"a. For the eastern territory (Pastor Rebane), that growth is to
be recorded in every place where the missionary works, with the
exception of the town of Mystic, Conn. The reason this place was
given up as a mission station is that all the Latvians have moved away
from there, mostly to New York, where they now belong to the
congregation there. Of the 17 congregations and preaching places
served by Pastor Rebane, 4 are newly added. As can be seen, the
missionary has his fields of labor in the states of Maine,
Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Illinois,
Wisconsin, and Delaware. Number of souls: 864. All the congregations
and preaching places have been served continuously, in regular
rotation, over the course of the past three years.
"b. For the western territory (Pastor Sillak), that steady growth
is likewise noticeable in this territory. From the 7 preaching places of
three years ago, there are now 17, partly in Assiniboia, Medicine Hat,
and Alberta, Can., partly in Manitoba, and partly in North Dakota,
South Dakota, and Minnesota. It also appears from the missionary's
report that trips to the farthest west of our country ought indeed to
have been undertaken, but had to be omitted for lack of time as well as
for lack of the necessary travel funds.
"From both reports it can be seen that our missionaries have not
only worked faithfully in their office, but that God's blessing has also
rested on their labor. Thanks be to him for it!
"The committee has felt it painfully, at its frequent meetings, that
given the great distance of the western territory from the committee's
seat, it is well-nigh impossible for it to keep closer oversight of the
conduct of the mission there. It therefore ventures to lay before the
Reverend Synod the following
*) Note. These reports could not be printed here owing to their
great length.
