11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 29

...of other similar institutions, placed entirely in the students' own
hands. Whether this arrangement is expedient only the future can tell.
"The plan for erecting a service building, which was also to contain a
number of classrooms, living quarters, and sleeping rooms, again did
not come to execution in this triennium either, because the sum
granted by the Synod did not suffice given the high prices in the
building trade. We therefore ask the Synod for an additional grant of
$15,000.00. At the same time it is to be expected that in the near
future two new steam boilers for heating will have to be procured,
which, including some other changes connected with it, will require an
expenditure of about $5,000.00." (Report of the Board of Control at
St. Louis, Mo.)
1. Resolved, that a new, namely a seventh, professorship for church
history be established at the Seminary in St. Louis. The board of
control there is hereby authorized to bring about the election of a
seventh professor.
2. Resolved, that the sum of $5,000.00 be granted for the purpose of
procuring two new steam boilers for heating.
3. Resolved, that in addition to the $15,000.00 granted by the Synod
for the service building at St. Louis, which is also to contain a
number of classrooms, living quarters, and sleeping rooms (see the
report of the 1902 Delegate Synod, p. 42, items 1 and 4), a further
$15,000.00 be granted, making $30,000.00 in all.
Note: Regarding music instruction for the Seminary's students, see the
resolution concerning all our institutions (with the exception of our
teacher-training seminaries). It is found on page 53 of this report.
Concordia Seminary at Springfield, Ill.
"On the milestone marking the once again completed triennium of the
existence and activity of our practical-theological institution at
Springfield, Ill., we set the word of God: 'Give thanks to the LORD,
for he is good, and his mercy endures forever.' For the goodness of
the LORD, the faithful God, has been richly experienced by the
institution, and likewise by all who have been connected with it, also
in these past three years; and the whole Synod has cause to join us in
thanking the LORD for it...
