11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 45

dazu theils in dumpfen Dachräumen, ſchlafen.

11th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1905. 45

to buy and to cover the purchase price with the proceeds. Since
the building lot next to the purchased lot, 40x120 feet, is still
available, it would seem advisable to acquire it too. However, the
money needed for that could also be obtained through the sale of
the lot across the way. — We would now gladly let the matter rest
with the request for the aforementioned $3300.00. But the welfare
of our students drives us to make one more request. We cannot
answer for the fact that so many students sleep in a relatively
cramped space, some of them even in stuffy attic rooms. The
dormitories now available should hold at most 150 students. But
under all circumstances we need sleeping space for 225 students.
An addition planned as a dormitory, to be built onto the old
building, 71½x37½ feet, two stories, with a deep basement for the
gymnasium, would, according to a bid obtained, come to
$17,900.00. All the necessary alterations and construction, including
the moving of the buildings mentioned earlier, would according to
the bids submitted come to $21,200.00. Since, however, such
alterations and construction usually bring various expenses one
has not counted on, and since we would under no circumstances
wish to exceed the sum granted to us, we ask of the Reverend
Synod the sum of $22,000.00 for the further good of our institution,
which has so far been richly blessed by God's grace and set to be
a blessing to his Church." (Report of the Board of Oversight at
Milwaukee, Wis.)

1. Resolved, that the pension granted by the Board of Oversight
to Prof. G. Kröning continue until January 1, 1906, from which
time the relief committee appointed by the synod will take the
pension matter into its own hands and, in this case too, provide
for it as needed.

2. Resolved, that the request for the appointment of a further
(eighth) professor be denied, and that the institution continue for
now to make do with the temporary hiring of an assistant — for
as long as the large number of students makes it necessary.

3. Resolved, that the sum of $3300.00 be granted for moving the
buildings named in the report.

4. Resolved, that the request for the granting of $17,900.00 for an
addition to relieve the lack of space be denied, and that the Board
of Oversight be instructed to manage as best it can for the next
three years.
