11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 41

An Stelle Herrn Rector
Director J. Schmidt berufen. Als Director trat an deſſen Stelle
am 24. Mai 1903 Herr P. M. Lücke. Sehr traurig war für uns der
Todesfall Herrn Dr. O. Siemons. An ſeine Stelle trat Herr Prof.

11th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1905. 41

...to house together in a single institution as had already been at
the Addison institution. These reasons have without doubt remained
valid to this day and are still strong today; indeed, the shortage of
teaching-office candidates has probably grown even greater. The
execution of the above resolution has, however, so far occurred only
in part, that is, the newly founded institution in our state so far
consists only of the lower classes. Experience has shown, however,
that a good number of students withdraw and take up another calling,
because, in order to prepare for the teaching office, they cannot
complete their studies in Seward but would still have to go on to
Addison.

"The Nebraska District of our Synod therefore hereby asks that the
Reverend General Synod resolve to expand the institution at Seward,
Nebr., now into a full teachers' seminary." (Petition of the Nebraska
District.)

1. Resolved, that the Second Teachers' Seminary at Seward, Nebr., be
expanded into a full teachers' seminary, and that the board of
control there be authorized to bring about the calling of the
necessary professors gradually, as needed.

2. Resolved, that for the instructional building to be erected at
Seward the sum of $20,000.00 be granted, and for the service building
needed there, the sum of $6,000.00 be granted. — The board of control
is also authorized to appoint a steward for the institution.

3. Resolved, that the board of control at Seward be instructed to
also provide the necessary — that is, appropriate to need — housing
for the professors to be appointed there over time.

Concordia Gymnasium at Fort Wayne, Ind.

"In the last three years God has allowed our institution to
experience much joy, and also much sorrow.

"The faculty has labored with great love, patience, faithfulness, and
unity among the students entrusted to it. It has undergone various
changes. In place of Rector Schick, who was pensioned by the last
Synod but at the same time asked to continue serving the institution
as an extraordinarius, Director J. Schmidt was called. As Director,
Rev. P. M. Lücke succeeded him on May 24, 1903. Very sad for us was
the death of Dr. O. Siemon. Prof. ... took his place.
