11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 33

„1. Der Beſuch unſerer Anſtalt war folgender:

„5. Der Beſchluß der Ehrw. Synode in Bezug auf die Orgeln

11th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1905. 33

First Teachers' Seminary at Addison, Ill.

"As the board of control of the Teachers' Seminary at Addison prepares
to report to the Reverend Synod, it thinks above all, with a thankful
heart, of the goodness and faithfulness of our dear heavenly Father.
For in the past three years he has held his protecting hand over our
institution and has graciously kept it from fire and other harm. He
has granted our dear professors strength and health, so that despite
their heavy workload they were only rarely compelled to let classes
lapse. He has also blessed our institution with good attendance.

"1. Attendance at our institution was as follows:

"a. In the school year 1902 to 1903 there were 206 pupils at the
institution, namely 126 preparatory students and 80 seminarists. Of
these, 34 entered the teaching office, 10 served as substitutes, and
2 died.

"b. In the school year 1903 to 1904 the institution had 213 pupils,
namely 132 preparatory students and 81 seminarists. Of these, 27
entered the teaching office, and 12 served as substitutes. No deaths
occurred.

"c. In the school year 1904 to 1905 there were 242 pupils, namely 119
preparatory students and 123 seminarists. Of these, 33 are entering
the teaching office, 14 served as substitutes, and 1 died.

"2. The state of health at the institution was quite good. Apart from
those who died, only one student and our dear steward were afflicted
with serious illness.

"3. As for the moral condition of the students, various bad habits
did indeed occur, and, regrettably, also some gross offenses, but in
general a spirit prevails among the students that bows before God's
Word.

"4. The practice school, too, was well attended and proves itself
more and more, the longer the more, a true blessing to the
institution. In 1902 to 1903 this school numbered 56, in 1903 to
1904, 55, and in the last year 60 children, of whom one died.
Professors Backhaus and Rechlin oversee the practice school in such a
way that one teaches or conducts and supervises the instruction in
the morning, the other in the afternoon. The school's performance is
good.

"5. The Reverend Synod's resolution regarding the institution's
organs has been carried out. Prof. Käppel writes of it as follows:
'With the $3,000.00 granted by the Synod we have rebuilt our large
assembly-hall organ and installed a new, smaller one in place...
