Carolina, 4 in Louiſiana, 3 in Virginia, 1 in Illinois und 1 in
Miſſouri). Dieſe wurden bedient von 15 Paſtoren, 8 Lehrern und
4 Lehrerinnen. Es arbeiten jetzt in der Miſſion bereits 5 farbige

„Am Jahresſchluß (1904) zählte die Miſſion 1615 getaufte

...not leave us nor forsake us. — He will also send us the money needed for building the college.
"The cause and honor, Lord Jesus Christ,
"Are not our own, but truly thine, etc.
"All the Synod's delegates are therefore asked, for the love of Christ, to warm the hearts of the people at home in their congregations, so that this need too may be met through generous contributions.
"It should further be reported that the *Miſſions⸗Taube* [Mission Dove], with 22,700 subscribers, yielded a net profit of $2,098.88 for the mission in 1904, and the Lutheran Pioneer, with 4,850 subscribers, $124.26. Both mission periodicals are published on behalf of the Synodical Conference by the Commission for the Negro Mission and can be obtained from Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis, Mo., each for 25 cents a year. Both papers should be circulated even more zealously still.
"The Negro Mission currently comprises 28 stations (19 in North Carolina, 4 in Louisiana, 3 in Virginia, 1 in Illinois, and 1 in Missouri). These were served by 15 pastors, 8 male teachers, and 4 female teachers. There are now already 5 colored pastors and 2 colored teachers working in the mission.
"At the close of the year (1904), the mission counted 1,615 baptized souls, 762 communicant, 196 voting members, and 1,231 weekday-school pupils. The number of communions totaled 1,632; 93 were baptized, 48 confirmed.
"Regular monthly contributions for the Negro Mission are sent in by the Negro congregations to Treasurer Burgdorf — from some congregations $10.00, from others $25.00, and from one congregation as much as $35.00 monthly.
"Whoever wishes to know more about the Negro Mission may confidently apply to any member of the Commission for the Negro Mission in St. Louis, Mo.
"The present commission consists of Pastor C. F. Obermeyer, chairman; President J. Bernthal, secretary; Prof. A. C. Burgdorf, treasurer; Prof. L. Fürbringer; Pastor Rich. Kretzschmar; Pastor W. C. Brink." (Report of the Commission for the Negro Mission.)
1. Resolved, that all our congregations be encouraged to support most vigorously, with prayer and generous gifts or collections, also the Negro Mission, which is conducted by the Reverend Synodical Conference.
2. Resolved, that our Synod, too, earnestly impress upon its congregations, or upon every member of the congregations, to
