Juni 1904,
der Sextaner O. Fiſcher am 8. Januar 1905 und der Quintaner
A. Freeſe am 7. April 1905. Es ſind in dieſen drei Jahren wieder
einige grobe Ausſchreitungen vorgekommen. In Folge deſſen mußten
Dasſelbe wird, ſo Gott will,

42 Proceedings of the 26th General or
W. Kruse, who was installed on October 7, 1903. Unfortunately, the
hope we expressed at the last Synod regarding Prof. Bischoff —
namely, that he would recover well from his stroke — has not been
realized. With a heavy heart, he has therefore laid down his office.
Rev. Walter Moll received and accepted the call to the professorship
thereby vacated and was installed in his office on June 29, 1904.
"Of the students the following may be reported: their number was:
from 1902 to 1903: 157; from 1903 to 1904: 185; from 1904 to 1905:
218. Examinations were taken: in 1903: 23; in 1904: 23; this year 20
will take their examinations. Through what we may confidently hope
was a blessed death, four students have entered eternity, namely the
third-formers W. Gross, on January 29, 1903, and E. Domrös, on June
19, 1904; the sixth-former O. Fischer, on January 8, 1905; and the
fifth-former A. Freese, on April 7, 1905. In these three years there
have again been some gross instances of misconduct. As a result,
several students had to be removed from the institution. The great
majority of the students, however, have conducted themselves as is
expected of baptized young Christians. They have willingly submitted
to the discipline of God's Word and have shown an open, honest
disposition toward their teachers.
"As for the resolutions passed by the last Synod concerning our
institution, the following may be said:
"1. The main building has been thoroughly repaired, so that it can
now serve its purpose for years to come. This repair did, admittedly,
cost $1,500.00 more than the Synod had granted. We would point out,
however, that we informed the Synod that, according to the exact
calculations of experts, this work could not have been done more
cheaply.
"2. A central heating system has been installed, which has proven
itself well.
"3. After two-thirds of the sum granted by the Synod had been
pledged, work began on the erection of the resolved instructional
building. It will, God willing, be finished by September 1.
"And now one more request, namely that steam-heating equipment be
installed in the residences of Rector Schick and Professors Zucker
and Kruse, and connected to the central heating system. The
residences of the remaining professors are already equipped with
steam heat." (Report of the Board of Control at Fort Wayne, Ind.)
