Synode vereinigen mögen, worauf ihnen unſere Unterſtützung in⸗
kommen werde.

26. Beſchloſſen, daß die Eingabe der “National Federation
of Churches and Christian Workers”, dahin lautend, daß unſere

...proceed, so that the great shortage of preachers there may be
remedied as far as possible.

24. Resolved, that the Synod encourages all its congregations to
carry these mission fields in Australia and New Zealand on a praying
heart as well, and to continue helping to advance the mission work
there with generous financial means.

25. Resolved, that the request for support from three congregations
in Germany which formerly belonged to the Hermannsburg Free Church,
but which severed their connection with it on their own authority, be
declined with the answer that the said congregations should first
reunite with their synod, whereupon our support would come to their
benefit indirectly, through the mediation of the Hermannsburg Free
Church.

26. Resolved, that the petition from the "National Federation of
Churches and Christian Workers," asking that our Synod join hands with
that society in the matter of social reform, be tabled, since the whole
affair amounts to unionism.

27. Resolved, that the audit of all the account books of the
Committee for Home Missions always take place, before the Delegate
Synod convenes, through an auditing committee to be appointed by the
General *Präses* [president].

Foreign, or Heathen, Missions.

"Our mission to the heathen in East India has stood under the sign of
the cross these past three years. We did have the joy of being able to
send Candidate Forster to India during the last Delegate Synod, and
soon afterward Pastor G. Naumann of Glenwood, Wis., was also won for
service in our mission. But we have suffered a very bitter loss in the
death of our dear missionary Näther, who attended to his calling in the
school and as a preacher to the heathen with the utmost faithfulness
and truly admirable diligence. He died on February 13 of last year of
the plague, with a Christian's courage and calm submission to God's
will, after having — as a plague victim, from some distance away —
urgently exhorted his little congregation to stand fast in the faith and
the heathen present to accept the salvation that exists for them, too,
only in Christ.

"Through Näther's illness, his family, and also Missionary Naumann,
likewise stationed at Krishnagiri, together with his own family, were
placed in the greatest danger; likewise also Missionary Kellerbauer,
