Neben ſeiner Gemeinde in Sao Leopoldo
bedient P. Stiemke die Filiale Morro Pelado. Sie zählt 25 ſtimm⸗
berechtigte Glieder.
Obwohl an
Was dieſe Gemeinde

60 Proceedings of the 26th General or
Velha already, to return to Germany, and Rev. Klein had become
his successor. This congregation has good prospects. It raises the
salary by itself, has fine church property, and is free of debt. It
counts 120 voting members, the school 40 children.
"2. The congregation at Sao Leopoldo. It was served for a
short time by Rev. Klein, and when he was called to Estancia
Velha, Rev. Stiemke became his successor. This congregation has a
good future. It has 50 voting members. The school numbers 61
children. It is an old evangelical congregation and has been served
by us since 1903. It, too, does not yet raise the pastor's full salary.
Besides his congregation at Sao Leopoldo, Rev. Stiemke serves the
branch congregation of Morro Pelado. It counts 25 voting members.
"3. The congregation at "Baumschneis." It lies several hours
from Sao Leopoldo. Twenty-two members had broken away from
the united [Union] congregation there and turned to Rev. Klein.
He took the people under his care, and they then called Rev.
Müller. The congregation counts 50 members, the school 20
students. Since the way there could not be covered by wagon, Rev.
Müller came with ten of his members to Sao Leopoldo, and a
meeting was held with them.
"4. The congregation at Porto Alegre. This congregation is of
great importance already because of its location. Although not
large in membership — it has 28 voting members — it nevertheless
has a flourishing school in steady growth. The number of students
is 134. In the first class, teacher Wilke, trained at our seminary at
Addison, gives instruction; in the second class, the current
assistant pastor. Setting up a third class has meanwhile become
necessary. What hinders this congregation's growth is the lack of a
churchyard [cemetery]. The undersigned is glad to explain this in
more detail by word of mouth, should it be desired, as well as that,
and why, the current president, Mahler, needs an assistant
preacher, of which he is presently lacking.
"After the visitation in Porto Alegre was finished, the visitation
in the Northwestern conference district began on June 6. It
comprises the congregations of Rincao dos Valles with the branch
of Osorio, Alto Jacuhy, Jaguary with the branches of Sertao, Sao
Vicente, Jaguarisinho, Rosario, and Linie 16; further the
congregation of Toropy with the branch of Villa Clara; further the
congregation at Rincao Sao Pedro with
