„„„Zugleich bitten wir eine Ehrw. Synode, ſolange wir der

Theil werden zu laſſen.“

„„Weitere Begründung unſerer Bitten wird Ihr Viſitator, Herr
P. Lochner, im vollſten Maße zu geben im Stande ſein.

„„In der Hoffnung, daß eine Ehrw. Delegatenſynode unſere

64 Proceedings of the 26th General or

" ' "We address to a Reverend Synod the heartfelt request that
our previous relationship with the General Home Mission
Commission continue insofar as it continues to assist us in the
future with counsel and action, and to represent us in every case
in which our district cannot send its president or another delegate
to North America.

" ' "At the same time we ask a Reverend Synod that, for as long
as we need material support, it continue to grant this to us in the
future as well."

" 'Further grounds for our requests your visitor, Rev. P. Lochner,
will be fully able to provide.

" 'In the hope that a Reverend Delegate Synod will grant our
requests, on behalf of the Brazilian District of the German
Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States,
its Secretary, R. Kern, and W. Mahler, President, sign. Colonia
Jaguary, Rio Grande do Sul, March 16, 1905.'

"Your commission now takes the liberty of recommending the
following as well:

"1. To grant the request of the Brazilian District;

"2. To continue supporting the mission work in South America,
and to that end to encourage your congregations to promote this
mission, as before, with their prayers and gifts;

"3. To encourage subscription to the Kirchenblatt für
Südamerica [Church Paper for South America], since there are not
yet enough subscribers at present for the costs of production to be
fully covered;

"4. To speak up for the General Church Building fund, that is,
for filling it. We take the liberty of pointing to the following
resolution:

" 'Resolved, that the request of poor congregations in Brazil to
be helped by an advance of funds for church building be placed in
the hands of the Commission for the General Church Building
fund.' (See the report of 1902, p. 73.)"

"III. London, England. On behalf of the Reverend Presidium
of the Eastern District, the undersigned visited our brothers in the
faith in London on his return from South America. There he was
to visit our two congregations, together with their pastors and
their teacher, and, likewise as a member of the General Mission
Commission, to gain insight into the circumstances of our
ecclesiastical work there.

"On August 17, 1904, a Wednesday evening, after a preceding
worship service in which almost the whole congregation
