11. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1905. 57
men hat.

11th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1905. 57
this whole matter (the Hamburg congregation's request) in the
hands of the Saxon Free Church, with the declaration that it, the
General Synod, is ready to supply both the man and the necessary
funds, should it, the Saxon Free Church, consider it advisable to
take up this mission.' (See the report of the 8th Delegate Synod,
1896, p. 129.)
"Your commission takes the liberty of submitting the following
to a Reverend Synod: Of the past three synodical years, the year
1903 stood out in that at every quarterly distribution each district
could be allotted the full sum it requested. It was different in
1904. Only in the first quarter could the demands of all districts
be met; in the second quarter, by contrast, the commission was
short $2554.17, in the third quarter $4279.08, and in the fourth
quarter $2011.53. And while, further, in the first quarter of 1905,
after meeting the needs of all the districts, the commission could
rejoice over a cash surplus of $292.14, it had, at the most recent
distribution (April, 2nd quarter), to look with sorrow upon a
deficit of $2506.19.
"It hardly needs mentioning that your commission has often
made the quarterly distribution with a heavy heart at the sight of
such frequent, large shortfalls in the treasury. Would that the
General Home Mission fund were more generously provided for!
Your commission takes the liberty of expressing the wish that
those districts which, after the quarterly disbursement for mission
work in their own district, show a surplus in their treasury, would
hand this over promptly to the General Home Mission fund. Had
not, for instance, the Middle District and the Illinois District again
come to our aid in a vigorous way, your commission would have
been in still greater difficulty with the distribution.
"We take the liberty of once again expressing the request that
the greater part of the collections gathered at mission festivals be
allocated to the Home Mission fund.
"Since the fund for supporting the mission in Berlin belonging
to the Saxon Free Church shows a deficit, we take the liberty of
asking for more generous gifts for this fund. Since Rev. P. Amling
is present, we ask a Reverend Synod to give him the opportunity to
make a report on the mission work in Berlin.
"Since the former member of the commission, Mr. Carl Esemann,
was compelled by illness to resign, Mr. W.
