burger Verhältniſſen ſich anpaſſend, ſeine lutheriſchen Schriften an
In einer dieſer Her⸗

80 Proceedings of the 26th General or

"'So much for the official report. To supplement it I add a few
notes on my work over the past year:

"'437 letters came in and 456 were written. Trips to the office of
the North German Lloyd were necessary 234 times, to the railway
station 92 times, and for various other purposes 205 times. While Mr.
Vopel, adapting to Hamburg conditions, distributes his Lutheran
literature aboard the ships, the local lodging houses for emigrants here
have readily opened their doors to me. In one of these lodging houses I
recently placed about 70 of our American calendars in a single
evening.

"'That the work in Bremen is generally increasing may finally be
seen from the following comparison: In March 1904, 22 letters came in
and 32 went out. In March 1905, 64 letters came in and 69 went out.

"'But may the Lord our God be gracious to us and prosper the work
of our hands, and let it go well toward the building of his kingdom! —
Bremen, Falkenstrasse 47, April 18, 1905. Fr. Gillhoff.'

"It should also be mentioned that, at the beginning of this year, the
Lord of the Church called Pastor J. P. Beyer, a long-faithful member of
the committee, from our midst by a blessed death. Pastor O. H. Restin
has been elected in his place; he had at one time been employed at the
House until his recall to the pastorate, and therefore already had good
insight into the mission's work. His election, as well as that of Mr.
Chas. E. Hauselt, should accordingly be confirmed by the Synod.

"The Synod must this year elect three trustees, since the terms of
Pastor Chr. Merkel and of Messrs. E. Hauselt and Chas. E. Hauselt have
expired.
