14. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1914. 147

einzelnen höheren Lehranſtalten, zumal diejenigen in ihrem Diſtrikt,
reichlicher mit Liebesgaben (Geld und Lebensmitteln) bedenken.

Im Auftrag der St. Louiſer Eintagskonferenz mit ge⸗
bührender Hochachtung

Das Komitee:

J. F. Schuricht.
Rich. Kretzſchmar.

Komiteebericht.

14th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1914. 147

We find great variation among the different institutions in how they use
these allowances. Some draw less than they are entitled to, others have
gone beyond the allowance. The sums range from $40.00 to $146.66 per
month. Last year the Synodical treasury had $11,575.08 drawn from it in
this way. At the highest rate charged by any one institution, this sum
would have risen to $17,599.20 if all ten eligible institutions had
claimed the same amount, while at the lowest rate the Synodical treasury
would have been charged only $4,800.00.

We consider it more proper that the employees named be paid, like the
rest of the household staff, out of the household budget of the
institution concerned. But so that this does not cause an increase in
board fees, our Christian people should remember the individual higher
institutions of learning — especially those in their own district — more
generously with gifts of love, in money and provisions.

On behalf of the St. Louis one-day conference, with due respect,

The committee:

J. F. Schuricht.
Rich. Kretzschmar.

Committee report.

Your committee recommends to a Reverend Synod that the 1911 resolution
"to pay a fireman and a janitor at every institution out of the
Synodical treasury" be rescinded again, and that the former arrangement
be restored, but that the building superintendent continue to be paid
out of the Synodical treasury as before.

Committee's recommendation rejected.

Petition of the Michigan District.

The Michigan District would submit the following petition to the
General Synod: that the cost of repairs to the educational institutions
no longer be paid from the Synodical treasury but from now on be paid
from the General Building Fund.

C. J. Umbach, Secretary.
Sebewaing, Mich., February 20, 1914.

Committee report.

Your committee recommends that this petition likewise be adopted as a
resolution, namely, that the cost of repairs to the educational
institutions no longer be paid from the Synodical treasury but from the
General Building Fund.

Resolved, to take this up for discussion at the next Synod.
