Engliſche Gottesdienſtordnung.

An die Ehrw. Delegatenſynode, verſammelt zu Chicago, Ill., vom
6. bis zum 16. Mai 1914.

Ehrwürdige Väter und Brüder!

Das Komitee zur Ausarbeitung einer engliſchen Gottesdienſt⸗
ordnung erlaubt ſich, der Ehrw. Synode folgenden Bericht zu unter⸗
breiten.

the point that it can be given to the printer together with the new

English Order of Worship.

To the Reverend Delegate Synod, assembled at Chicago, Ill., from
May 6 to 16, 1914.

Reverend Fathers and Brethren!

The committee for drafting an English order of worship takes the
liberty of submitting the following report to the Reverend Synod.

1. The committee recommends the use of the so-called Common
Service, the order of worship of the English District, into which
should be inserted an English translation of the order for morning
services customary in the Missouri Synod, one for evening services,
and, alongside these, the necessary antiphons, etc.

2. The committee was given, for revision, a manuscript inherited
from the former English Missouri Synod of a new, complete English
liturgy or Agenda [service book], consisting of prayers and
formularies, and the committee reports that the revision, which
sought to meet the given requirements as closely as possible, is
complete, and recommends that the Reverend Synod accept the work and
publish it as soon as possible at all.

3. The committee recommends a double edition of this liturgy: one
in a larger format as an altar book, and a pocket edition with the
most essential formularies.

The Committee:
C. Abbetmeyer.
H. P. Eckhardt.
G. J. Wegener.

The committee for examining Petition No. 50, concerning the English
order of worship, recommends to the Reverend Synod

1. the adoption of the first point of the petition, and that
Dr. Abbetmeyer be charged with seeing to the translation of the
German order of worship.

The committee's recommendation was raised to a resolution.

2. Since the Synod's committee for producing a new German Agenda
has now completed its work, and since it would be advisable for the
Agendas in both languages to be shaped as uniformly as possible, we
recommend to the Reverend Synod the establishment
