ſeligen Witwe Anna Neff in St. Louis $100.00.

24 Proceedings of the 29th General or

we have ventured only the most necessary expenditures. We would,
however, ask the Reverend Synod to order the fairly prompt payment
of the $1600.00 already authorized at the previous convention, since
the renewal of the sidewalk on Winnebago Street and of the driveway
entrance to the courtyard, to be carried out with those funds, has
gradually become an urgent necessity. — The floors in the corridor
of the first and second stories, as well as on the main stairways,
are so worn that something must be done to improve them. We
recommend, as the best and most suitable course, the laying of new
hardwood floors, and ask for the necessary appropriation of about
$1000.00 for this purpose.

It should further be added that the seminary has again received
some bequests during this triennium as well, namely from the estate
of the late Rev. P. J. Beyer of Brooklyn, N. Y., $487.20, and from
the late widow Anna Neff of St. Louis, $100.00.

Resolutions.

Resolved, to reauthorize the sum of $1600, already
authorized three years ago, for the renewal of the sidewalk and of
the driveway entrance to the courtyard, and to pay it out at once.

Resolved, to authorize the sum of $1000 for the laying of
new floors in the corridors and on the main stairways of the older
building.

Resolved, that the board of control may spend up to $2500
for the installation of electric lighting in the living rooms of the
old building and in the professors' residences.

Resolved, to convey the ten feet of land that has for
years been in the possession of the Holy Cross congregation, for the
nominal sum of one dollar, with the understanding that the
congregation consent to the lane becoming a "public alley."

Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill.

The worthy board of control of this institution reported as follows:

The Lord of His Church has granted grace that our practical
preachers' seminary has again, for three years, been permitted and
able, in the service of the dear Savior of sinners, to train workers
for the vineyard of God, and has thus again been the divine
instrument for putting into the field a whole number of
well-trained, capable, God-fearing champions of the church militant,
to which eternal triumph is promised. The institution had 224
students in the 1911/12 school year; of these, however, 39 were
non-degree students — that is, men preparing for church service in
the Slovak synod or in another synod belonging to the Synodical
Conference; of these, 48 entered office. In 1912/13 the seminary
counted 219 students, including 34 non-degree students; 38 passed
the candidates' examination. In the current school year, 1913/14,
enrollment stands at 192 students, including
