dritte Jahr;
eingehend beraten werde.
6 a. Wir empfehlen einer Ehrw. Synode, daß ſie den anonymen
Gebern von bedeutenden Summen für Allgemeine Innere Miſſion den
herzlichen Dank ausſpreche;
Siehe
Gruß im „Lutheraner“ 1914, Seite 191, unter „Zur kirchlichen Chronik“.

74 Proceedings of the 29th General or
3. that the Synod appropriate the sum of $150,000 for the General Mission Treasury for the coming triennium, namely $40,000 for the first year, $50,000 for the second, and $60,000 for the third;
4. that, in case the necessary funds are not raised, the General Commission be authorized to borrow them.
5. In deliberating on both the work of Inner Mission and the work of the Emigrant Mission, your committee became convinced of the urgent need to appoint a director of all the Synod's missions. It is our conviction that a General Mission Director should be elected already at this session of the Synod. If this cannot be done, we recommend that the matter be thoroughly discussed in all parts of our Synod during the coming triennium.
6a. We recommend that the Reverend Synod express its heartfelt thanks to the anonymous donors of significant sums for General Inner Mission;
6b. that the Reverend Synod also express its due thanks to the members of the Commission for General Inner Mission for their faithful, conscientious work during the past triennium. —
7. Regarding the two petitions concerning uniform salaries for traveling preachers and missionaries, we state it as our conviction that the salaries of missionaries must remain the concern of the individual districts. We recommend, however, that it be made the duty of the General Commission to work toward ensuring that our missionaries in the subsidized districts are not paid too low a salary.
Resolutions.
All the recommendations were raised to resolutions, with the exception of Recommendation 5, in place of which the following was resolved instead:
The appointment of a special director for Inner Mission is to be diligently discussed in all parts of the Synod during the coming triennium.
Resolved, that the delegates in particular make it their concern to report to their congregations what they have heard at the Delegate Synod about the extent and the great needs of this Inner Mission, and also to impress it upon individual members.
Resolved, to extend, through the *Lutheraner* [the Synod's German-language church paper], a greeting from the Synod to all its traveling preachers and missionaries at home.*)
*) The same was resolved in the proceedings on the other missions. See the greeting in the Lutheraner, 1914, page 191, under "Zur kirchlichen Chronik" [Church Chronicle].
