14. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1914. 93
In Campo do Meio beſteht eine Gemeinde, von P. Haupt be⸗

14th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1914. 93
[continued from the previous page] ...is served in Morro Pellado, which offers good hope for the future, and a mission station, Fazenda Fialko. From the latter place the missionary writes: "When I came there, I found a sad state of affairs. The children knew nothing of Jesus, not even his name, and did not know the Lord's Prayer. The services are now well attended; the people show themselves willing and evidently sense what they have been missing."
In Campo do Meio there is a congregation, served by Pastor Haupt, which now has 93 voting members, a school of 75 children, and a total of 650 souls. The services are well attended. The congregation owns a church and a parsonage. The *Lutheraner* [the Synod's German-language church paper] reported quite recently on the congregation at Rolante-Taquara. Pastor Strieter labors there. In the space of a few years God has worked wonders there through the preaching of Christ. The 40 members there were "nearly disheartened because of their debts and poor church attendance"; now the congregation numbers 86 members, and the parish also includes four preaching stations with 752 members. Instead of receiving support of $500.00 from the mission treasury, the parish now pays more than the usual salary, which amounts to $600.00. The services are well attended. The school numbers 74 children. May God bless the diligent and zealous young man, who "proclaims Christ in every way," to Germans, Italians, Portuguese, and Swedes!
We could go on in this way and show what a wide door God has opened for us there, how Christ is being proclaimed there to hundreds upon hundreds of immortal souls, and how much more could be proclaimed if we had the men.
We would like to point out one more field, the northwestern mission field. When Pastor Busch moved there a few years ago, he found virgin forest, and in the forest people hungering both spiritually and physically. With great effort and many hardships he sought the people out. Now Pastor Kemner and teacher Steiner stand at his side. 15 congregations and preaching stations are served by them. They keep pressing further forward with the preaching of Christ, even into Paraguay. They must have companions to help them press on, if blessing is not to be lost and these workers themselves are not to break down physically. There, too, the blessing of our first labor is already showing itself. They find there people who have moved there from our older congregations, and also some who received instruction in our Christian schools, and in these they have good support within the congregations. — The district has 70 congregations and 20 preaching stations and only 20 workers.
Argentina.
No reports have come in concerning Argentina. Pastors Rüsch, Böttcher, Nicklas, and Schröder are at work there. The last-named has recently taken over the southern traveling-preacher field. It is a large area near Bahía Blanca, "Pampa—
