to maintain the necessary discipline, or for other reasons, it has the right, in conjunction with the electoral college, to relieve him of his office. Whenever such a removal from office is at issue, the board of control is not confined to a single collective vote. In this case it also has the right, in conjunction with the electoral college, to grant, as circumstances warrant, temporary financial assistance, which, however, shall in no case last longer than six months.

10. The board of control shall see to it that all love-offerings flowing to the institution, and all benefit from bequests, etc., made to it, benefit only those students who are truly preparing themselves for the direct service of the church, or of its school.

11. The board of control of such an institution, in which there are also pupils whose parents or guardians have not intended them for direct service to the church, has the authority, on the faculty's recommendation, to grant a reduction of the tuition fee set for those such pupils who are gifted and godly but poor.

12. The boards of control are required, at their meetings, to give the teachers and the steward opportunity to bring forward their wishes concerning the institution.

13. The boards of control may jointly employ a doctor and a pharmacist for all the pupils, who by contract serves all the pupils for a modest sum, to be paid by them jointly.

14. The board of control shall appoint the steward, regulate his salary, and, together with the institution's director, give him the necessary instructions, as well as examine the account of income and expenditure he is required to keep accurately.

It is the duty of the board of control to see diligently to it that all the institution's property is kept in good condition and serves its purpose as well as possible, with due regard to the reasonable wishes of the teachers and the steward in this respect. On this point it may order such repairs and construction as in no case exceed a cost of $500. In all more significant construction it is strictly bound by the Synod's resolutions on the matter.

16.
