Anderungen: A. daß unter a) eingefügt werde: „eines Miſſionars“;
B. daß unter c) die Worte in „Indien“ geſtrichen werden;

ſelbſtändigen Miſſionsdirektorats“) ablehne;

gutheiße;

läum begehen könne;

Heidenmiſſion genügend Raum gegeben werde;

reichlich geſegnet hat;

Herrn P. Jul.
möglichte;

Wiſſen und Gewiſſen gehandelt hat;

110 Proceedings of the 29th General or

With regard to the "recommendations" made by the Commission, the committee concerned submitted the following proposals:

1. that the Synod adopt the first recommendation with the following changes: A. that under a) be inserted: "of a missionary"; B. that under c) the words "in India" be struck out;

2. that the Synod reject the second recommendation ("establishing an independent mission directorate");

3. (regarding the Commission's third recommendation) that the Synod approve enlarging the subcommission from five to six members;

4. (regarding the general jubilee celebration) that the Synod postpone the general jubilee of the founding of our heathen mission in India by five more years, since a 25th-anniversary jubilee could then be observed;

5. that the Synod refrain from founding a mission periodical of its own, but that it take care that regular communications about our heathen mission be given adequate space in the Lutheraner and in the Missionstaube;

6. that the Synod, by resolution, express the wish that lectures on our heathen mission be given more often at our institutions, in order to awaken and sustain interest in it.

With regard to the facts set forth in the Commission's report, we further recommend:

1. that the Synod give expression, by resolution, to its joy and its thanks toward God that he has so richly blessed our work in this mission;

2. that the Synod express its cordial thanks:

to Rev. Zorn for his faithful work on the Commission,

to Rev. Prof. Zucker for his faithful service as mission director,

to Rev. Jul. Friedrich and his congregation in St. Charles, Mo., whose readiness made possible the visitation of our mission in India;

3. that the Synod answer the cordial letter of the missionaries in India through our General Secretary.

With regard to the Commission's refusal to begin a mission in China, we recommend:

1. that the Synod refrain from discussing this matter, because it has become moot through the taking over of this mission by a mission society, and that the Synod extend to the Commission the good confidence that it acted in this matter to the best of its knowledge and conscience;

2. that the Synod determine for the future that, in extraordinary cases where God has evidently opened a door for us, the Commission be authorized to take up work in another heathen land besides India as well, but that it be required, in such a case,
