14. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1914. 27

Die Schülerzahl be⸗
trug: 1911—1912: 171, von denen 10 Aushelferdienſte leiſteten;

P. Theo. Kohn in ſein Amt eingeführt. Der Ehrw. Vizepräſes J. H.
Haake hielt dabei die Rede.

14th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1914. 27

to render its report, it must, looking back on the past triennium,
praise God's goodness and joyfully proclaim: "The Lord has done
great things for us, whereof we are glad!" Yes, the Lord has been
with us and has let us experience His protection and goodwill, His
guidance and leadership, His support and help in richest measure.

We can testify, to God's honor, not only that our dear professors
have worked with faithfulness and particular diligence, but also
that, by God's grace, a good spirit and fine discipline have
prevailed among our dear students.

Attendance at the institution was good. The number of students was
as large as the facilities allowed. Enrollment stood at: 1911-1912:
171, of whom 10 performed auxiliary-teaching service; 1912-1913:
170, of whom 18 performed auxiliary-teaching service; in 1913-1914
the number rose to 195, of whom 10 are temporarily teaching in
schools.

Candidates entering office numbered: 1911: 42; 1912: 35; 1913: 28.

The state of health at the institution was generally satisfactory.
One student died.

The practice school was again, during this past triennium, under the
careful direction of Professors Backhaus and Rechlin, and proved a
blessing for our future teachers. It was attended, from 1911 to
1912, by 31 boys and 25 girls; from 1912 to 1913, by 29 boys and 25
girls; from 1913 to 1914, by 16 boys and 15 girls.

It gives the board of control great pleasure to be able to inform
the Reverend Synod that the worthy congregation of Grace, Oak Park
(Rev. W. Röcker), has agreed to hand over the four lower grades of
its school to the institution at River Forest for use as the
practice school. These children (31 in number, so far comprising
only the three lower grades) are taught daily at the institution.
The congregation has thereby rendered the institution and the whole
Synod a great and commendable service of love.

The past triennium brought various changes for the seminary at
Addison.

1. On November 21, 1912, Prof. M. Lochner entered the faculty as
successor to the late Prof. E. Homann and was installed in his
office by Rev. Theo. Kohn. The Reverend Vice-President J. H. Haake
delivered the address on that occasion.

2. In January 1913, Director Theo. Brohm, Sr., who had served the
institution for 34 years as professor, the last seven of them also
as director, found himself obliged, on account of his advanced age,
to lay down his office and retire. The electoral board called
President W. C. Kohn of Chicago to the vacant directorship, who
accepted the call and, on June 13, 1913, was
