14. Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1914. 91
Ozeans ſo bald als tunlich einen Taubſtummenmiſſionar anzuſtellen;

Anſtalt in Porto Alegre.
Zweck.

14th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1914. 91
From the committee report:
We take the liberty of proposing to the Synod
1. that a deaf-mute missionary be appointed, as soon as feasible, for the entire region along the Pacific coast;
2. to propose to the Synod that the Commission for Deaf-Mute Mission and our deaf-mute missionaries be encouraged to continue in this precious work as before.
The committee's recommendations were raised to resolutions.

Inner Mission Abroad.
From the Commission's report, the following is reproduced here:
Brazil.
Institution at Porto Alegre.
The previous Delegate Synod appropriated $5,000.00 to help our educational institution there to a home of its own. Your commission can report that this has been done. A piece of land in the immediate vicinity of our church in Porto Alegre has been acquired and two buildings erected on it. These, admittedly, bear no comparison with the buildings of our institutions in this country, but for the present they serve their purpose. About $3,000.00 was collected for this purpose in the congregations, chiefly through the efforts of Director Wegehaupt; what was still lacking of the $5,000.00 was taken from the Synod's building fund. The land and the building cost about $1,500.00 more than the $5,000.00, but this sum was raised by the congregations in Brazil.
Two professors have devoted their whole strength to this institution, and Pastor Mahler has, during this triennium as well, so far as his actual office allowed, rendered it valuable service. The highest class numbers six young men who, God willing, will go forth in about a year as the firstfruits of this institution, to proclaim Christ to their countrymen as the one, perfect, and universal Savior. A third teacher ought to be employed there. This request has been before your commission for some time already, but it wished to refer the matter to the Synod's decision.
Mission.
As for the work in this distant mission field, we can report with thanks to God that it has had a blessed course. The funds needed annually to support the mission work have been sent regularly. Admittedly, at times the necessary money was not in the treasury — indeed it was in debt — but the treasurer found a way. We did not want to put the Synod's workers in a foreign land into the terrible situation of being without—
