14th Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1914. 149
At its first meeting the committee's task is:
a. to receive the reports from the congregations that have come in to
the visitors;
b. on the basis of these and other reports, to deliberate thoroughly on
the financial situation of the General Synod and of the district's own
finances;
c. to encourage, through the visitors, in a friendly and evangelical
way, the congregations that have sent in no report and that have not
taken part with proper zeal in the work of the Synod and the Kingdom
of God, toward this glorious work;
d. to work as much as possible toward the goal that general, regular,
and orderly giving be pursued in all the congregations of the Synod,
and also, where appropriate, to recommend to the district's
congregations such methods of collection as would reach and draw in
all communicant guests for giving.
At its second meeting the committee's task is to deliberate thoroughly
on the financial situation of the district and of the General Synod,
and to compile the budget specified under §1 for the following year.
It also finally falls to this committee to prepare, as early as
possible, the report named under §3, have it printed, and deliver it to
the congregations;
5. that, on the occasion of the annual distribution of the candidates,
the district presidents, together with the Reverend General President
and treasurer, deliberate thoroughly on the Synod's financial situation
on the basis of the reports received from their districts.
On behalf of the above-named congregation, its committee has signed:
W. H. Amling.
R. G. Freymark.
P. Kolb.
P. S. This petition has been thoroughly examined by the Proviso
special conference of Cook and Du Page Co., Ill., which has resolved to
endorse it and to recommend it for discussion and deliberation to the
three large conferences of the North Illinois District and to all the
Synodical districts of the Synod. The Committee.
Concerning the Petition of the Melrose Park Congregation.
The St. Louis one-day conference recommends the following changes, or
additions, respectively:
On item 1. The words "at each New Year's meeting" should be struck.
(The General Treasurer's report appears at the start of January and is
to be taken into account when drawing up the budget.)
On item 2. That the Synod ask all congregations to deliberate on this
budget thoroughly and carefully as soon as possible, and to report the
result, through their pastor, to the visitor concerned.
