d. Deaf-Mute Mission.

From the Commission's report, the following:

The field in which our deaf-mute missionaries work extends from the city of New York in the east to the west coast of our country, from Minneapolis in the north to Louisville in the south. In this field 8 missionaries currently labor, whose support requires about $7,000.00 annually. These 8 missionaries are: Pastors Tr. M. Wangerin, J. Salvner, A. Boll, N. F. Jensen, C. Schubkegel, O. Schröder, N. P. Uhlig, and O. Fedder, who, alongside his hearing congregation, also serves the deaf-mute mission in Seattle and Tacoma, Wash., and Portland, Oreg.

Our deaf-mute mission numbers 8 organized congregations, 102 voting and 245 communicant members, 448 souls. Preaching is done in 43 places before an average of 715 attendees. — To promote this mission, a monthly periodical, *The Deaf Lutheran*, is published, whose editor is Pastor Tr. M. Wangerin of Milwaukee.

A sick missionary had to be given assistance, which has been, and continues to be, most willingly provided by two employees of the Deaf-Mute Institute in North Detroit.

The Commission has, in many meetings, conscientiously deliberated on the affairs of this mission and sought its best interest.

The funds necessary for carrying on this work have been supplied by our Christians — the deaf-mutes included — through God's guiding of hearts, as the treasury report for the year 1913 shows.
