Erklärung und Beſchlüſſe betreffs der Vereinigung rechtgläubiger
Synoden unſers Landes u. a.

Declaration and Resolutions Concerning the Union of the Orthodox Synods
of Our Country, Etc.

Report of the Committee.

Since, according to petition 68, the Wisconsin District of our Synod, at
its meeting last year, unanimously adopted the following resolution:
"that our District request the Delegate Synod meeting next year to take
in hand the matter of uniting all the orthodox synods of our country into
one great body, and, through suitable persons, to enter into negotiations
as soon as feasible with the other synods" — we therefore recommend that
the Synod adopt the following declarations and resolutions:

1. We recognize that a closer union than now exists among the various
orthodox synods of our country would be beneficial to the work of the
church, and that the necessary steps should therefore be taken at once to
initiate a suitable union of these synods in every state.

2. Be it therefore resolved that the Reverend General President appoint a
committee as soon as possible, which shall

a. take under advisement the ways and means of the proposed union,

b. have proposals concerning it submitted to it,

c. negotiate with the synods in question, or their representatives,

d. work out a plan of union jointly with them, if possible, and then

e. report to our Delegate Synod at its next sessions.

The Delegate Synod, however, reserves the right to accept the plan
submitted, to reject it, or to substitute another in its place.

The committee's report was adopted in full and unchanged.

(On this matter brothers from the Wisconsin Synod also took the floor,
namely Pastor B. P. Nommensen, Mr. Julius Geweke, and Mr. Aug. Franke.)

Resumption of Intersynodical Conferences.

Committee Report.

On the matter of resuming intersynodical conferences, your committee begs
leave to submit the following report:

Since the president of the Iowa Synod has officially informed our
president that, by resolution of the Iowa Synod, he has appointed a
committee for the purpose of preparing a godly
