156 Verhandlungen der 29. Allgemeinen oder
Meinungen in dieſer Sache ſehr weit auseinandergehen.

156 Proceedings of the 29th General or
d. So that the order of the general fiscal year achieves its purpose,
so that the figures are correct and the reports really cover the past
year, the district treasurers should wait to close their books until
about January 6, so that they can have in hand the last collections
from the congregations, and the General Treasurer should keep his
books open for the last year-end remittances from the districts until
about January 15.
On behalf of the Atlantic District,
Respectfully,
L. Schulze.
Committee report.
Your committee has discussed this petition thoroughly but could not
reach a unanimous result. We find that opinions on this matter differ
very widely. We therefore take the liberty of recommending to a
Reverend Synod:
that the Synod establish a committee, consisting of the General
President, the district presidents, the General Treasurer, and
whatever finance committee the Synod may appoint, which is to
deliberate thoroughly on this matter and present recommendations to
the next General Synod, and that this matter be brought forward as
soon as possible after the Synod's session opens, before appropriations
are made for the various treasuries.
Adopted as a resolution.
Treasury Reports of the Boards of Control.
Petition.
The Minnesota District resolved to submit a proposal to the General
Synod aimed at having the various boards of control compile a detailed
treasury report on the money appropriated for the board-of-control
fund, and having this report published in the Synodical Report. (1913
Report of the Minn. District, p. 81.)
Recommendation adopted.
Committees to Examine the Student Funds.
Petition.
To the Reverend Delegate Synod, in session at Chicago in May 1914.
As is known, money for students is sent during the course of the year
directly to the directors or administrators of the student funds of
our various institutions. Some of these also have in their
administration bequests designated for the education of poor students.
To our knowledge, however, there exists no committee whose task it is
to examine the account books of our directors and to report to the
Synod on the income, expenditure, and condition of their funds,
