dürfniß kirchlicher Verſorgung in engliſcher Sprache ſelbſt übernehmen;

82 Proceedings of the 25th General, or
...we also recognize that the interests of the English sister synod are
touched by this matter; and we can therefore well imagine that this
synod might wish for a discussion or an understanding with us about it.
For this reason we consider it fitting that the Synod adopt the above
declaration.
"II. Concerning the relationship between Germans and English within
the congregations and parishes and on the mission fields.
"The principles involved and the reasons set out above for
recommending the closest possible synodical union between Lutheran
congregations of English and German tongue speak just as urgently, if
not still more urgently, for the following:
"1. that in the future, as a rule, English congregations not be founded
in the territory of German congregations, but that the German
congregations themselves take up the need for church care in the
English language that shows itself in their midst or in their territory;
"2. that in founding congregations on mission fields, the interest of
language be taken into account in such a way that, depending on
whether the German or the English element predominates, the German
or the English language be allowed to predominate, without thereby
neglecting the church household of the other tongue." (Petition of the
Southeast Missouri Pastoral Conference.)
