Tenth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1902. 51
"...would swallow up, yet we would still have only old buildings, in
many respects impractical, we would recommend a new building, which
would require about $125,000.00." (Report of the oversight board at
Fort Wayne, Ind.)
1. Resolved, that the excess expenditure of $462.40 for the buildings
ordered at Fort Wayne be approved, and the sum named be granted to
cover this debt.
2. Resolved, that the motion that the Synod erect a new building at
Fort Wayne, to cost about $125,000.00, be rejected.
3. Resolved, that a new building, similar to the one at Milwaukee,
Wis., be erected on the college grounds at Fort Wayne, whose cost shall
not exceed the sum of $44,000.00.
4. Resolved, that the present building, called Building No. 2, be
repaired so as to provide sufficient space for well-ventilated dormitories
and living rooms conducive to health.
Note: In response to an inquiry it was stated that the cost of
repairing the building just named would amount to between $10,000.00
and $12,000.00.
5. Resolved, that the quite old building, called Building No. 3, be
left in the condition in which it now stands.
6. Resolved, that the answering of the question whether the steam
heating to be installed for the buildings at Fort Wayne should be a
central system or a separate one for each building be left to the
oversight board.
7. Resolved, that Rector G. Schick be retired and a new professor
called for the institution; but that Rector G. Schick be asked to continue
serving the institution with his remaining strength as an *Extraordinarius*
[special-rank professor, without a full chair], on such terms as the
teaching faculty and the oversight board arrange with him.
8. Resolved, 1. that Rector G. Schick be granted an annual pension of
$600.00 (monthly $50.00), together with free lodging — specifically
his present lodging — and, for as long as he serves as Extraordinarius, an
annual honorarium of $400.00. — 2. That Rector G. Schick, should he
retire completely, be granted an annual pension of $600.00 and a
supplement of $150.00 for lodging for the rest of his life.
9. Resolved, that the present provisional substitute arrangement for
Prof. Bischoff be continued further, and that his recovery be awaited as
it progresses.
