bewilligt werde.

42 Proceedings of the 25th General, or
...needs be met, and the institution provided with the rooms that it
partly needs already now and will partly need in a few years, this does
not seem to us capable of being done any better or any more cheaply than
by erecting the service building we have planned.
"It remains to be added that the Board cannot agree among itself on the
site on which the building in question could most suitably be erected —
whether on the yard lying behind the seminary, or on the northwest corner
of the college grounds, in which latter case the professor's residence
standing on that site would have to be torn down and rebuilt at another
location. We therefore ask that the Reverend Synod render a final decision
on this matter as well." (Report of the Board of Control at St. Louis, Mo.)
1. Resolved, that the sum of $10,000.00 requested in the Board of
Control's report for the erection of the service building be approved.
2. Resolved, that the service building to be erected shall be put up
not on the yard lying behind the seminary but on the northwest corner of
the college grounds.
3. Resolved, that the professor's residence standing on that site be
torn down and rebuilt at another location.
4. Resolved, that the Board of Control at St. Louis be given full
authority to act at its best discretion in the whole building matter, and
that the sum of $5000.00 be granted it for removing the professor's
residence from the old site and rebuilding it on the new one.
Concordia Seminary at Springfield, Ill.
"During the last triennium the Lord's work at our school of the prophets
has continued to make God-blessed progress. No epidemics, such as
afflicted our city, and no deaths among the students have grieved us. The
enrollment limit set by the Reverend Synod, as well as perhaps the fear of
'overproduction,' has considerably restricted the number of seminarians.
In the school year 1899 to 1900 it stood at 127; 1900 to 1901: 154; at
present it has, however, again risen to 158. Requests for vicarages did
not decrease in proportion to the decline in the number of students. At
present 23 seminarians are serving as vicars.
"President Succop appointed Mr. P. Berg as his deputy on the Board of
Control. Retiring from that Board is Mr. J. Breßmer, who has faithfully
served the Synod since 1878. Also, Mr. Fr. Riehmann, who has held the
office of building superintendent since 1892, owing to physical
infirmity
