(Vgl.

(Cf. the General Treasurer's report, p. 121.)
(Report — partly excerpted — of the Commission for Home Missions.)
1. Resolved, that the Synod cordially ask the congregations to supply
the treasury for Home Missions quite generously through collections,
gifts, bequests, etc.
2. Resolved, that the Synod recommend to the congregations that they
not break up the mission-festival collection into too many small parts,
but let the greater part of the total collection flow into the treasury
for Home Missions, and in addition gather one or more collections for
Home Missions during the course of the year.
3. Resolved, that the Synod remind all those Districts which have not
yet established a church-building fund among themselves — that is, a
fund from which money can be advanced to poor mission congregations for
the building of churches — of a resolution passed by the last Delegate
Synod, by which they were urgently exhorted to call just such a
church-building fund into being.
4. Resolved, that the Synod inform all its congregations that the
shortage of workers is also keenly felt in the harvest field of Home
Missions. The Synod therefore asks that pastors in their sermons,
festival preachers at mission festivals, and all who have an opportunity
to do so, show earnest zeal in winning young people for service in the
mission, so that our institutions, which ought to have some 300 more
pupils, may be filled.
5. The Synod expresses its joy and its thanks to God that it has been
permitted to begin so glorious a work as that of the mission in Brazil.
6. Resolved, that the Synod recommend the publication of a periodical
serving especially the purposes of the mission in Brazil. The Synod
expresses the wish that this periodical find as wide a circulation as
possible in our congregations, so that its publication may be eased with
regard to cost, and interest in the mission in Brazil may be furthered.
