Tenth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1902. 97
the mission's welfare has been discussed here from every angle. — There
have been some changes in the commission's personnel. The commission
asks the Reverend Synod to confirm these additions.
"For the rest, the faithful God has let the spirit of peace and harmony
prevail in all our commission meetings, and has kept the members of the
commission, together with our missionary, in unity of faith and love.
"May the LORD our God, who desires that all people be helped and come
to the knowledge of the truth, let us recognize the importance of our
Jewish mission, and preserve, promote, and bless it to the praise and
glory of his holy name, for Christ's sake. Amen." (Report of the Jewish
Mission Commission.)
1. Resolved, that the congregations be asked to support the Jewish
mission more vigorously in the future than has been done so far.
2. Resolved, that the Synod confirm the commission's additions with
regard to the persons it has elected.
3. Resolved, that the treasury report, which has been found to be in
order, be accepted.
Mission to Black Americans [Negermiſſion].
"The commission for the mission to Black Americans has the following to

mission, has shown it much good, and has let it experience some
suffering, but even more joys.
"First, some changes are to be noted. Mr. Pastor O. Hanser — a
long-serving, faithful, and zealous member of the commission — has left
the commission on account of his advanced age; Mr. Pastor Aug. Burgdorf
of Lincoln, Ill. has been elected in his place. — Having left the
service of the mission to Black Americans (after only a very short time)
through a call elsewhere: Mr. Pastor Pretzsch (on account of illness),
formerly at Mansura, La.; Mr. Pastor Martin Weinhold now works in his
place; further, Mr. Pastor Oehlschläger, formerly at Winston, N.C.
(Winston is presently still unfilled); then Mr. Pastor Nickel, formerly
at Southern Pines, N.C.; Mr. Pastor Buch has served in his place since
last September; finally (through a call elsewhere) Mr. Teacher Lohrmann,
formerly at Concord, N.C.; a candidate for the teaching office from
Addison has now been called to his place.
"As much as we must lament (on the one hand) that so many departures
through calls elsewhere occur in the mission to Black Americans, so much
do we rejoice (on the other hand) to be able to report that our
missionaries, with only rare and brief interruptions, attend to their
office — and do so still today under the
