Zehnten Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1902. 59

„Was den Stand unſers Anſtaltsgebäudes anbelangt, ſo iſt derſelbe gut

Trienniums an andere Synodalanſtalten behufs Weiterſtudiums entlaſſen.

Tenth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1902. 59

Willingly and without murmuring, not only do the pupils submit
themselves to the institution's order, but they are also eagerly intent
on upholding it among themselves. By God's grace no excesses whatever
have occurred, and not in a single case was it necessary to apply
stringent measures to maintain discipline and order. For this we have
solely to thank the straight and gracious scepter of our Lord Jesus.

"In diligence too the pupils have, on the whole, honestly striven to
satisfy the demands placed on them. And the relationship of the teachers
to one another, as well as of the teachers to the pupils and vice versa,
is a fine one.

"As for the condition of our institution's building, it may be called
good. Expenditures for necessary repairs and improvements have stayed
within the limits set by the Synod. Several smaller structures had to be
built: a new stable, a new bake-oven, a bookcase for the teachers' and
pupils' library (together with drawers and a receptacle for storing the
physics apparatus and the like used for instruction). All these
improvements together, however, did not exceed the sum of $400.00.

"As to statistics, the following is to be reported: enrollment over
the last three years gives the following figures: in the school year
1899 to 1900 there were 40, in the school year 1900 to 1901, 47, in the
school year 1901 to 1902, 57 pupils at the institution. 24 pupils were
released in the course of the triennium to other Synodical institutions
for further study. Three boys left the institution for various reasons;
these are not included in the above pupil count for the last triennium.
Since the institution's nineteen years of existence it has been attended
by about 440 pupils; over 175 of these have been assigned from it to
the Synod's various other institutions, and nearly 90 of its former
pupils are now in the ministry and are scattered through almost all the
Districts of the Synod.

"In thus reporting with grateful joy on the flourishing state of our
school of the prophets [seminary-preparatory school], and having to say
that in God's hand it has been a blessing to our dear Synod and, by
God's grace, will remain one in the future as well, allow us to add to
the report one more request — supported with great and unanimous
eagerness by the Kansas and the Western Districts — in the interest of
the institution in particular as well as for the good of the Church in
general. And it is this: that the fourth class, the so-called
Tertia, formerly taken from the institution by the Honorable
Synod, be restored to it — together with a fourth teacher at the
institution — and that it thus be expanded again to what it formerly
was, namely a full lower and middle Gymnasium with the classes Sexta,
Quinta, Quarta, and Tertia.
