Zehnten Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1902. 53
Es gereicht vielmehr Ihrer Be⸗

Tenth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1902. 53
[continuing:] ...paid for by the Synod, and that no supplementary special
grant is now expected from it either. Rather, it gives your board great
pleasure that it can hand back to the Synod, for the sum of $35,000
approved for it at the time, a building that not only cost $9194.05
more, but is in fact worth that much more as well. That it is able to do
this, it owes to the generosity of various persons. Thus, for example,
the institution's former students donated the art-glass windows made
for the auditorium. The hallway windows made of the same glass are a
gift made by the children of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Pritzlaff in
memory of their parents. The other ornamentation of the corridors and
auditorium is likewise traceable to Christian kindness and generosity.
Thus, further, the fine hardware on the doors was donated by the J.
Pritzlaff Hardware Co. The gifts named, and some other smaller ones, are
all included in the total sum of $44,194.05. To be sure, the deficit of
$9194.05 is not yet entirely covered, but neither the Synod nor its board
need give themselves any anxious concern over that. — So we thank God,
who let this building succeed for us and who, with it, has adorned our
college grounds with a monument to his goodness. May he hold his
protecting hand over it and make it a place of blessing for his beloved
Church.
"N.B. That the auditorium is adorned with an organ to match it,
supplied by the firm of Hinners & Albertsen, will surely delight all the
Synod's members heartily, especially since this too was accomplished
without cost to the Synod. The students raised the necessary sum for it
themselves. The students likewise collected most of the sum needed for
benches in the classrooms from among their friends.
"4. Besides the new building, a few other structural changes have
also been made. Thus, in keeping with the Synod's 1899 resolution, two
professors' residences were enlarged, and the approved sum of $2000.00
was spent for that purpose. Further, the kitchen was moved from the
oldest building into the frame building, and the dining hall into the
building originally intended for household/service purposes — specifically
into the former auditorium. Some old classrooms were also converted
into suitable living rooms by the erection of walls. Likewise, washrooms
and bathrooms had to be installed, the yard covered with gravel, and
whatever other changes the new building brought with it. This accounts
for the somewhat larger expenditures than the Synod treasury was
otherwise accustomed to cover. — The enlargement of the hospital
resolved by the Synod in 1899 has not yet been carried out.
"5. The board would now gladly spare the Reverend Synod any request
for new money grants. It has little else on its mind — only two things.
The first is a steam-heating system for the old buildings, for which the
sum of about $5000.00 would be required
