Minutes of the Tenth Delegate Synod,

assembled at

Milwaukee, Wis.,
from June 4 to 14, 1902.

*J. N. J.* [In the Name of Jesus]

Owing to a change in the time fixed by the last Delegate Synod, the
General Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States convened as the Tenth
Delegate Synod on Wednesday, June 4, at Milwaukee, Wis., and held its
sessions there until Saturday toward evening, in the Evangelical Lutheran
Trinity Church (Pastor H. F. Sprengeler).

On the morning of June 4, at 9:30, the Synod was opened with a
worship service in the said church, at which Vice-President C. C. Schmidt
of St. Louis, Mo., preached on Hebrews 10:22–25.

Eighteen sessions in all were held, nine in the morning and nine in
the afternoon. The schedule was set so that the morning sessions ran
from 8:30 to 11:30 and the afternoon sessions from 2:30 to 5:00. Each
session was opened with singing, the reading of a Scripture passage,
prayer, and the Lord's blessing by the chaplain appointed by the Synod,
the Reverend Aug. F. Ude, and was closed with the Lord's Prayer led by
the General President, Prof. F. Pieper, or by the acting chairman in his
place. — In addition, a pastoral conference and a meeting of the deputies
were also held.

At the organizational session of the Synod, held on the afternoon of
June 4, it was found that the following delegates

1) were present:

I. From the Southern District:*)

a) those with voting rights:

1. Pastors: E. W. Kuss; F. Wunderlich; E. Mörbe; G. Buchschacher
(elected afterward in place of those named in the [district] report).

2. Deputies: H. L. Frantz; A. Ehmann (from the congregation at
Klein, Tex.); J. Berger (from Pastor C. W. Risch's congregation); C. Ritter
(from the congregation at Swiss Alp, Tex.).

*) The order of the districts is determined by the order of their meeting dates the
previous year. — The order of the delegates corresponds to the order in which it is
given in the reports of the individual district synods. (Note of the Secretary.)
