Zehnten Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1902. 73

Tenth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1902. 73

7. Resolved, that the Synod charges the Committee for Home Missions,
in agreement with the General Praesidium, to assist the pastors and
congregations in Brazil at a suitable time in forming their own synodical
district. Until then — that is, until the formation of a separate synodical
district has been accomplished — the pastors, or rather their congregations,
are to be held to affiliate with the Southern District of the General Synod.

8. Resolved, that the Synod recommends to the Praeses of the Southern
District that a visitation in Brazil be carried out by the General Mission
Committee as soon as possible.

9. Resolved, that the request of poor congregations in Brazil for help
with church-building funds by way of advances be placed in the hands of
the Committee for the General Church Building Fund. (See p. 127f.)

10. Resolved, that the Synod asks the congregations, with their gifts —
and especially in the near future — to support the mission in Brazil,
without thereby depriving Home Missions here in our own country of the
support it so badly needs.

11. Resolved, that the Synod urgently calls upon the Praesides and the
pastoral conferences to look about within their circles to see whether
suitable men can be found who are willing to answer a call to Brazil,
since the shortage of workers is especially keenly felt on the Brazil
mission field.

12. Resolved, that the Synod declares it entirely in keeping with its
intent if the Committee for Home Missions also sends schoolteachers to
the congregations in Brazil.

13. Resolved, that Mr. P. Poch of London, England, be asked to give an
oral report on the mission there.

(Mr. P. Poch fulfilled the Synod's wish.)

14. Resolved, that the Synod expresses its great joy over the
flourishing of the mission in London and over the great willingness to
sacrifice shown by the small congregations there.

15. Resolved, that the request of Mr. P. Schulze and his congregation
for the cancellation of a debt of about $6,000.00 incurred through the
acquisition of church property be granted.

16. Resolved, that the Synod urgently asks the congregations to make a
generous contribution, so that the fund now empty for the needs of the
London congregations may be filled to the point that the Synod can meet
its obligation.

17. Resolved, that the Synod does not consider it advisable, under the
present circumstances, to appoint a pastor or teacher already now in
North Woolwich, a suburb of London. But it asks Mr.
