P. Bühler war der Pionier unſerer Synode im fernſten Weſten an der
Küſte des Stillen Oceans, hat 41 Jahre lang, davon 20 Jahre ganz allein⸗

140 Proceedings of the 25th General, or
5. Resolved, that Trinity Congregation at Milwaukee, as well as all
the other congregations there, be given through their pastors the
warmest thanks of the Synod for the friendly reception and loving
hospitality shown to the delegates.
6. Resolved, that the two choral societies of Trinity Congregation
at Milwaukee also be given the Synod's thanks, in writing through its
secretary, for staging a special choral service that gladdened the
hearts of the delegates.
7. Regarding the Free Church in Saxony, see p. 90, Resolution 2.
Resolution of Condolence.
"It will be a year this August since the news of mourning went
through our Synod that the Lord had, by a swift but blessed death,
translated the highly gifted and long-faithful president of the
California and Nevada District, Pastor J. M. Bühler, from the church
militant to the church triumphant. This death has called forth great
grief in wide circles, for whoever knew the departed held him in high
esteem. . . . Pastor Bühler was our Synod's pioneer in the farthest
West, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean; he labored for 41 years, 20 of
them entirely alone, under the most difficult circumstances, and it is
thanks to him, under God, that a soundly believing Lutheran church body
was built up there."
