Seward, Nebr.)

Tenth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1902. 49
"2. The Reverend Synod is asked also to grant for our institution's
library and natural-history cabinet such a sum as it has allotted other
institutions for such purposes. This request was already contained in our
last report, but its consideration was postponed during the proceedings
and then forgotten amid the press of business. (See the report of the
9th Delegate Synod, p. 49.)
"3. Since the musical instruments on hand no longer meet our needs (of
the four pianos, one has become completely unusable), we ask that the
Reverend Synod grant $600.00 for the purchase of further instruments.
"We consider it our duty to draw the Reverend Synod's attention to
whether it wishes to continue paying house rent for the professors, or
whether it would not be more advantageous to erect professors' residences
of our own.
"Finally, we feel compelled to express our sincere thanks to the
Nebraska District of the Reverend Synod for supplying the greater part of
the salary for our institution's assistant teacher, as well as, generally,
for its vigorous support, with which it has so richly provided for our
seminary until now.
"To him, however, the faithful God, who has hitherto so kindly cared for
our institution, may it also further be commended, to the honor of his
name and the furtherance of his kingdom. Amen." (Report of the Board of
Control at Seward, Nebr.)
1. Resolved, that the excess expenditure of $378.89 for the building of
the new washroom, etc., be approved, and the sum named be granted to
cover the debt.
2. Resolved, that a third teacher be permanently appointed at the
institution.
3. Resolved, that the same sum be granted for the institution's library
and natural-history cabinet as has been allotted other institutions for
such purposes.
4. Resolved, that the sum of $600.00 be granted for the purchase of
further musical instruments.
5. Resolved, that for now the building of professors' residences at
Seward be dispensed with.
Concordia Gymnasium at Fort Wayne, Ind.
"With God, in whose name our help stands, our institution has again
happily completed three years.
"The number of students during this time was: from 1899 to 1900: 176;
from 1900 to 1901: 169; from 1901 to 1902: 165. Going on to St. Louis
were, in the year 1900: 23; 1901: 27; and this year 23 will enter there.
