Neunten Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1899. 133

ſtehendes Committee ernenne, welches in vorkommenden Streitigkeiten zwi⸗

Ninth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1899. 133

Resolved, that the following committee report be adopted:
"We take the view that if the congregation at St. Clair, Mich.,
follows the proper procedure as laid out in the Synodical Handbook,
p. 114, §§ 3–5, it will also find the necessary support."

2. The Congregation at Charlottesville, Va.

"The Committee had before it a petition from the congregation at
Charlottesville, Va., belonging to our English sister synod. This
congregation, which finds itself obliged to undertake a church
building project but cannot afford the funds necessary for it, does
not ask for a grant of money from the Delegate Synod, but rather for
permission to appeal to the congregations of our Synod for a modest
amount of support." (Excerpt from the committee report.)

Resolved, that the petition of the sister congregation at
Charlottesville be granted, "though on the condition that the gifts
coming in for this purpose be receipted in the 'Lutheraner,' and that,
as soon as these gifts reach the total sum of $2000.00, this too be
made known in the 'Lutheraner.'"

The Wisconsin District and the Wisconsin Synod.

"In the synodical report of the Reverend Wisconsin Synod for the
year 1897, the following passage occurs in the synodical address of
President v. Rohr: 'I further take the liberty of recommending to the
Reverend Synod — and indeed following an understanding with President
Strasen of the Wisconsin District of the Reverend Missouri Synod —
that our Synod, too, appoint a standing committee, which, in disputes
arising between pastors and congregations of both synods that cannot
be settled by the presidents, shall, together with them, examine such
cases and seek to set them in order, so that the long drawing-out of
such matters may be avoided. . . . After thorough debate the Synod
resolved that the president be authorized always to assemble a
committee for individual cases.' — The undersigned — President J.
Strasen — now asks the Reverend Synod to be willing to take the
matter raised into consideration." (Excerpt from the petition.)

Resolved, that the following committee report be adopted:
"Regarding the petition from the Wisconsin District for the
appointment of a committee which, in disputes arising between pastors
and congregations of the Wisconsin and the Missouri Synod that cannot
be settled by the presidents, shall, together with them, examine such
cases and attempt to set them in order, your Committee recommends to
a Reverend
