Ausrüſtung treuer Arbeiter in deinem Weinberge.‘

Ninth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1899. 49
"Finally, we would still ask that the Reverend Synod grant such a sum
for our institution's library and natural-history cabinet as it has
allotted other institutions for such purposes.
"May the Lord Jesus continue to hold his hand over our institution,
bless teacher and student, and let them serve the welfare of the orthodox
church of our land, and the honor of his own name." (Report of the board
at Seward, Nebr.).
Resolved, that the Synod grants the sum of $2000.00 to remedy the
shortcomings — i.e., the lack of space — at the teachers' seminary at
Seward, Nebr.
Resolved, that Prof. Weller, who has so far provisionally filled the
office of director at the board's request at Seward, Nebr., be permanently
given that office.
Resolved, that the assistant-teacher position established at the
seminary in Seward, Nebr., continue, and that the third class set up there
be maintained.
Resolved, that the tuition income at the seminary in Seward, Nebr., may
be used to pay the salary of the assistant teacher employed there.
Note: Consideration of the request regarding the library and the
natural-history cabinet was postponed to a later time and then, in the
press of business, forgotten. The Secretary.

"As we lay before the Reverend Synod a report on the life and doings of
our institution during the past three years, we must confess: God has
graciously heard his church's prayer for this institution too, in this
period: 'Bless the orthodox schools in equipping faithful workers for your
vineyard.'
"The professors have had to miss only a few hours on account of illness,
etc. Individually and together they have worked faithfully with the
students entrusted to them and have conscientiously tried to lead them
rightly toward their high goal, the holy preaching office. It gave us
special joy that two professors of our Concordia, Prof. A. Crull and Dr.
H. Dümling, were able, in good health, to celebrate this winter the
twenty-fifth anniversary of their so faithful and richly blessed service
at this institution. Thanks be to God for this!
"In these three years the students have, on the whole, submitted
themselves to the discipline of the divine Word, as administered by the
director and by...
