Neunten Delegatenſynode von Miſſouri, Ohio u. a. St. 1899. 53
bewilligt werde.

Ninth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1899. 53
We therefore attach here the request that the Reverend Synod grant the
sum of $1000.00 for the enlargement and improvement of the hospital.
"IV. While some necessary buildings have been carried out, it is
precisely the building that was most urgently desired, and was granted
already six years ago, that has not been erected. Since the main building
to be erected was placed, six years ago, under the so-called two-thirds
rule, but the two-thirds sum was not subscribed within three years, the
board asked, three years ago, that that two-thirds rule be suspended with
regard to this so necessary building of ours. The Reverend Synod did not
believe it could grant this request. However difficult it is for your
board, it can do no other than ask once more, either that the two-thirds
rule be suspended at least in this case, or that some other arrangement be
made so that the resolved-on building can be taken in hand.
"V. Although your board would gladly spare the Reverend Synod further
requests, it cannot help laying before it the request for about $2000.00
for enlarging the residences of Profs. Ross and Hattstädt, since the
existing rooms are not sufficient.
"VI. Further, the board asks that the Synod approve its having raised
the salary of Profs. Huth and Ross by $100.00 per annum on account of
their large families.
"VII. Finally, we hereby make known that Mr. John Pritzlaff, who has
already done our institution much good, has again shown it a kindness, in
that he has made a gift to the Synod of the lot on which the gymnasium
[athletic hall] is built, and has handed the board the deed for it. The
Reverend Synod will not fail to vote heartfelt thanks to the generous
donor." (Report of the board at Milwaukee, Wis.)
Resolved, that the Synod, while upholding the grant of $35,000.00 made
six years ago for the main building of the college at Milwaukee, does not
lift the two-thirds rule with regard to new buildings for its institutions
— including the one at Milwaukee; but that it hopes to be able to make
such arrangements that the main building of the Milwaukee institution may
be erected as soon as possible.
Resolved, that the Synod grants $1000.00 to the board at the
institution in Milwaukee "for the enlargement and improvement of the
hospital."
Resolved, that the sum of $2000.00 be granted to the board at
Milwaukee, Wis., "for enlarging the residences of Profs. Ross and
Hattstädt, since the existing rooms are not sufficient."
