Ninth Delegate Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and Other States, 1899. 67

in this way to help ensure that still many of their fellow-redeemed, now
going astray, may be brought to faith in Christ and become eternally
blessed together with us.

Resolved, that, when the Commission for General Home Missions is
placed by the Synod in charge of particular missions, special funds shall
likewise be set up for such particular missions, so that the monies
designated for Home Missions as such are not put to use for other
missions.

Resolved, that the following provision be added to the resolution of
the last Delegate Synod: "The General Synod makes it the duty of its
president, on the occasion of the district synods' conventions, to gain
insight into the field of Home Missions of the individual districts, so
that in this way a uniting bond may be formed, also for the purpose of
mediating between any surplus and want that may exist" (Report of
the General Synod for the year 1896, p. 76): The General Synod
hereby further directs that the representatives of the General
Commission for Home Missions present at future Delegate Synods shall
meet with the General President and the members of the district
Home Mission commissions who are present, at least once during the
sessions of the General Synod, for the purpose of free discussion of the
needs of the various mission fields and mutual exchange of experience
gained and good counsel.

Resolved, that on the occasion of each future Delegate Synod a
special mission service be held, either in the church or — weather
permitting — outdoors in the open, at which several short reporting
addresses shall be given by speakers from various fields of Home
Missions. The arrangement of such mission services shall be left to the
congregations in whose midst the Delegate Synod in question holds its
sessions.

Resolved, that at the close of each such mission service a collection
be taken up, designated exclusively for the General Fund of Home
Missions.

Resolved, that the General Synod most cordially and urgently
requests all district synods — where a so-called church-building fund
does not yet exist in their midst — to set one up at once, for the
purpose of gathering a church-building fund for the benefit of such
mission congregations as need a little church and cannot obtain one
with their own means, but could with the help of interest-free loans
from such a church-building fund. Experience teaches that in many
places the circumstance that no suitable place can be found for holding
worship services, or the parish school, is a great hindrance to the joyful
thriving of a mission congregation, and when it
