46 Proceedings of the 24th General, or

"To the faithful Lord let our institution continue to be commended. May
he continue to be gracious to us, bless us, and let his face shine upon
us!"
(Report of the board at Addison, Ill.)

"Appendix. List of the persons who, without having trained at our
seminary, were examined, or colloquized, in the past triennium by the
Addison faculty or by a commission appointed by it, on the instruction of
the Reverend district presidents.

Name. Examining commission.
1. Hugo Tonn. PP. [Pastors] G. Küchle and Schlerf, teacher J. Beyer.
2. H. M. Schwolert. PP. Sieker and Steup, teacher E. Franke.

4. J. S. F. Müller. PP. St. Keyl and Steup, teacher E. Franke.

"Of these nine names, three are again found in the Synod's calendar
[i.e., roster of pastors]. In three cases we have no report on the outcome
of the examination. No. 9 did not pass."

Resolved, that the board at Addison, Ill., be permitted to erect, on the
seminary grounds, a building suitable for the purposes of the seminary's
practice school, at a cost of about $2000.00.

Resolved, that the Synod approves the board at Addison, Ill., having
granted Prof. Brauer an annual pension of $600.00 until the time of the
General Synod's meeting.

Second Teachers' Seminary at Seward, Nebr.

"As we prepare to render our dutiful report to the Reverend Synod, we
would first like to say that we are deeply thankful to God for having held
his protective hand over our institution and for repeatedly letting us
experience his gracious help.

"The state of health of the students in the past three years was, God
be praised, good. The sickroom was rarely put to use. No deaths occurred
at all. The spirit prevailing among the students is likewise, by God's
grace, such as one expects where the Word of God holds sway.

"We must testify of our professors that they have administered their
office, according to the gifts given them, with complete faithfulness and
conscientiousness.
